The use of fly ash in South Africa started in the late 1970’s. It has since been embraced and utilized extensively. Once South Africa democratized in 1994, the country experienced a long term growth in the economy. The demand for cement and fly ash exceeded the supply from 2003.

This created the opportunity for ULULA ASH to secure a long term agreement for the right to the fly ash from Kriel Power Station. Ulula Ash has since inception expanded and now includes bagging, exporting and managing its own tankers.
